It is therefore vital to maintain it in excellent condition to prevent any possible infection. Dryness, hard skin and corns are all signs that your skin is under increased stress. These lesions can become painful leading to altered foor placement and walking patterns which can result in secondary bone/joint pain and even falls. DIABETES & VASCULAR

Diabetes continues to be a devastating health issue, with increasing incidence throughout the world. Lower limb complications are a major concern, potentially leading to chronic treatment and early death. Evidence reveals that regular podiatric foot checks reduce the chance of serious complications developing. At GRM podiatry we offer diabetic foot assessments and advice on best foot health management. Vascular Assessment: Saving Limbs and Lives Having a healthy heart and good legs matters, however these have the potential to change as we get older. If the arteries become narrowed, there will be a reduced blood flow to your limbs, this is called Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD). At GRM Podiatry we not only routinely test blood flow in your legs/feet but we also listen to your heart’s beat in the feet. An irregular heart beat (cardiac arrhythmia) may indicate that a person has Atrial Fibrillation (AF). Tbe lifetime risk of developing AF, aged 40 and over, is 1 in 4. AF increases your risk of having a stroke by five-fold. If you have any concerns regarding your legs or feet, make an appointment today.

SPORTS, BIOMECHANICS,

RUN 365

Internal and external forces are applied to body tissue when walking, running and performing everyday activities. During optimal activity levels, our body tissues cope very well with these stresses. However, once the balance between the applied load and the tissues’ capacity to absorb that load alters, the potential for injury increases. Most injuries tend to be training load errors, therefore there is a great need for education and best training practices. At GRM Podiatry we educate our patients and empower them towards self-management, improving the way they walk and run.
